Skin care ingredients for sensitive skin
19 January 2022 by Izabela Kuzmanovic
Clients with sensitive skin need to maintain a consistent skin care routine to keep their skin clear and free from irritations. Their sensitive skin is usually thin and prone to dryness, especially in autumn and winter with winds and often extreme temperature changes. So it doesn't take much to irritate it: just a few days of stress, a change in diet, washing with unsuitable products or environmental pollution can make skin irritable and red.
Cosmetic ingredients with anti-inflammatory properties to enhance the skin’s lipid barrier should be used on sensitive skin. Suitable ingredients are:
Hyaluronic Acid
Due to its calming effect, hyaluronic acid is very gentle and helpful for all skin types, even the most sensitive, redness-prone skin.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E soothes sensitive skin and provides a protective barrier.
Shea butter
Shea butter is very gentle on sensitive skin and can help to calm red and irritated skin quickly.
Panthenol
Panthenol works as a skin protectant that can reduce itchiness and irritation of the skin.
Defensil®-Plus
Defensil®-Plus protects and replenishes the damaged skin barrier and it can also help to reduce allergic skin reactions.
Squalane
Squalane has a gentle effect on the skin as it mimics the skins’ natural oils, thus helping to bring skin back into balance.
These special ingredients can be found in the following Derma SR products:
