Swiss Color - A time-travel through the Iron Age!

What is Swiss Color´s position on this topic?
It's not easy to find the right balance between working with the best pigments to expand your artistic possibilities and the best pigments in terms of safety and quality. A lack of solid and assured knowledge about some ingredients and their properties did not make the choice of reliable colors any easier!
At Swiss Color we have never compromised. We have always followed our philosophy of acting responsibly to guarantee safety and high quality. Our pigments have always met the highest standards and fulfilled the strictest safety regulations. So when there were doubts about the health safety of iron oxide pigments, in the 2010s, we banned them from our color card, even though there was a big market for them.
Patience is the key to success!
We have waited patiently to finally offer a pigment range that unites the expanded creative possibilities, offered by iron-oxide pigments, with renowned Swiss Color safety and quality!
In 2019, an extended study by two major European universities confirmed that PMU and tattoo colors pose no risk to patients in MRI. In 2021 the new REACH-Regulation restricted many ingredients in our industry! Where many saw an inconvenience and a setback, we took this new, stricter safety standard for PMU colors as an opportunity.
It was only on this basis that we began to develop our new iron-oxide pigments, compliant with the strictest regulation, assuring the health of Swiss Color clients. Production techniques have made two or three generational leaps in the last 10 years. Today, we are able to use selected, isolated particles of synthetically processed, optimized and purified iron oxide, specifically designed for PMU-purposes.
New iron-oxide, new possibilities!
From this knowledge and the technical possibilities, we have developed our brand-new pigments. Eight high quality synthetic iron-oxide pigments and two new blends of organic and iron-oxide particles. REACH-compliant, with fast and long-term skin incorporation into the skin and a lower risk of red healing.
Enjoy the best of both worlds - the brilliance of organic pigments, expanded by the pastel freshness of our new colors.

For some it´s a game changer! For some it´s a technicality. For others it´s purely a matter of faith. Organic, inorganic and blended pigments all have their own advantages and their fan base. Among the inorganic colors, iron-oxide pigments are probably the most discussed.
